Hi! We're Smartsourcing, looking for a Payroll Officer who can work with us full-time and on-site!
Where??? Crown 7 Business Centre, Pope John Paul II Ave, Cebu City, Cebu As a Payroll Officer, you'll collaborate closely with the Finance and People & Culture teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll for all employees. You will support the Head of People & Culture on key projects and reporting, and work with systems like Employment Hero and Deputy to maintain pay rates and codes. Strong IT collaboration is essential for seamless HR and operational systems integration.
Some of the things we expect you to do are to: End-to-end payroll processing for two groups weekly (casual and permanent) and fortnightly for management staff (340 employees). Process bonuses, out-of-cycle pays, redundancies, and expense claims. Manage leave processing, work cover payments, and PIAWE calculations. Maintain Time & Attendance (Deputy) and Payroll (Employment Hero) systems. Ensure superannuation and child support payments are processed timely. Resolve payroll inquiries and ensure compliance with Australian tax, superannuation, and industrial laws. Support annual WorkCover declarations, remuneration reviews, and other People & Culture projects. Generate and execute employment contracts, maintaining onboarding accuracy. Produce monthly reports on absenteeism, turnover, and other metrics. Additional Duties: Participate in payroll system updates or migrations. Manage risks related to payroll operations. STP lodgements after each pay run. Continuously seek process improvements and efficiency. We would need you to be or have the following: Expertise in payroll systems (e.g., Xero, Employment Hero/Keypay, Deputy) with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize for efficiency. Skilled in integrating payroll with financial and HR systems. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve discrepancies. In-depth knowledge of Australian tax law, superannuation, and awards/agreements. Up-to-date on payroll legislation and compliance changes. Able to communicate payroll info to non-technical stakeholders effectively. Team player with strong interpersonal skills and excellent time management. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in payroll processes. Experience in streamlining payroll through automation and process improvements.
