The Primary Design Engineer develops high quality designs for Primary High Voltage (HV) systems. They are guided by the Principal and Senior Engineers, assisting with the designing, testing and commissioning of HV systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ENGINEERING Devise designs compliant with standards and specifications.Provision of assistance with preparation of tenders.Assist with project management as required.Provision of assistance with engineering, technical analysis and report generation.Assistance with the commissioning of HV systems.Assistance with Project Management in specialist areas of expertise; provide technical and engineering assistance to Project Managers.Primary: Substation primary system design, specification and documentation.Overhead Lines: Overhead line design, specification and documentation.Earthing: Earthing design, specification, documentation and studies TEAMWORK Develop a team culture where individual members are valued and recognized for their diverse skill sets.Keep team members informed of relevant issues impacting on them or their work.Suggest and promote creative ideas and approaches to improve individual and team performance.Encourage and support others to take on new challenges and opportunities CUSTOMER/STAKEHOLDERS RELATIONSHIP Build collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Proactively anticipate customer needs where possible.Manage work with a continual focus on the impact of decisions and actions on customers/stakeholders.Measure customer/stakeholder satisfaction to continually improve HEALTH & SAFETY ENVIRONMENT Actively create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by working safely, adhering to instructions, and using equipment in accordance with safe operating procedures.Initiate and participate in worksite inspections, accident reporting and investigations, developing safe work procedures and providing appropriate information, instruction, training, and supervision.Address any unsafe working practices or hazardous working conditions. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS Must have a Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering Chartered / Professional Engineer (preferred)Turnkey project expertise in high voltage substation design, layout, codes of practice and associated civil, structural, and primary electrical worksSignificant experience in substation design, including evidence of large substation projects and the ability to lead designsProficient with CAD SoftwareIndustry Standard practices for construction of high voltage substationsISO900/ QA processes and procedures, and AS standardsA logical and practical approach to workHigh levels of attention to detailOutcome and customer focusedAbility to liaise with client engineers, suppliers, and subcontractorsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProject management experience
