Job Description: Role Overview:
The Cooling Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing refrigeration and cooling systems within the food manufacturing facility to ensure they operate efficiently and in compliance with food safety standards. This role is essential in preserving the quality and safety of food products by maintaining optimal temperature conditions during storage and production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on cooling systems, including refrigerators, freezers, and other temperature-controlled equipment.
Troubleshoot issues with cooling systems and implement corrective measures to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
Monitor and adjust temperature settings on cooling systems to ensure proper food storage and processing conditions.
Ensure that all refrigeration and cooling equipment complies with industry standards and food safety regulations such as HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Assist in the installation and setup of new cooling units and related systems as required.
Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce the risk of equipment failure and prolong the life of refrigeration systems.
Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used for each piece of equipment.
Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to address any cooling-related issues that may affect product quality or safety.
Report any major issues or equipment failures to supervisors for further action.
Qualifications:
Diploma or certificate in Refrigeration Technology, HVAC, or a related field.
At least 2-3 years of experience in cooling system maintenance, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of refrigeration systems, compressors, and related electrical and mechanical components.
Familiarity with food safety regulations, including HACCP and GMP standards.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair refrigeration and cooling systems effectively.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining food safety standards.
Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics related to cooling systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills for collaborating with other departments and reporting issues.
Physical stamina to perform hands-on maintenance tasks, including lifting and working in cold environments.
Willingness to work shifts and be on-call for emergency repairs.
