The Assistant Accounting Lead for Accounting Operations is instrumental in bridging the gap between operational oversight and accounting expertise. This role supports the Operations Manager in guiding, monitoring, and providing necessary support to the accounting team, enabling them to execute their tasks effectively and resolve challenges as they arise.

The Assistant Accounting Lead will act as a vital resource to ensure that accounting workflows are aligned with project goals, that communication is streamlined, and that any issues affecting the team's productivity are promptly addressed. They will also attend weekly briefings, sitdowns, and huddles to add insight and clarity, especially on accounting-specific discussions, to ensure accurate interpretation and execution of client requirements.


What you'll be doing:

Accounting Team Management & Support

Conduct regular team meetings, huddles, and one-on-one sessions with the accounting team to gather updates on ongoing tasks and identify any roadblocks or challenges.
Serve as a point of reference for the accounting team to clarify task requirements, particularly in cases where accounting knowledge is necessary to comprehend the complexities of assigned duties.
Collaborate with the Operations Manager to create action plans that support team members in overcoming obstacles and enhancing their performance.
Actively monitor individual and team performance metrics, providing the accounting team with targeted guidance and feedback to improve productivity and quality of work.

Issue Resolution & Performance Monitoring
Identify and analyze behaviors affecting team performance, conduct root cause analyses (RCA) for recurring issues, and develop actionable solutions to address these.
Facilitate performance monitoring processes by conducting regular check-ins, end-of-day reporting reviews, and individual performance assessments.
Prepare, document, and maintain accurate tracking logs of follow-ups and progress on assigned tasks, ensuring alignment with client and project goals.

Data Analysis & Reporting
Compile and analyze team performance data, tracking trends and highlighting areas for improvement; report findings to the Operations Manager with insights and recommended action steps.
Oversee the submission of daily, weekly, and monthly reports, ensuring they are comprehensive, accurate, and timely. Reports will include but are not limited to performance metrics, time-tracking, and task completion updates.
Support the Operations Manager by preparing detailed analyses that provide greater insight into workload distribution, resource allocation, and team productivity.

Process Improvement & Efficiency Initiatives
Identify and recommend improvements to existing accounting processes that can streamline workflows and reduce inefficiencies.
Coordinate with IT and management to troubleshoot technical issues that impact the accounting team's daily operations, especially those related to data management and workflow tools.
Contribute to special projects, particularly those involving process optimization, while promoting engagement and motivation within the accounting team.

Cross-functional Collaboration
Partner closely with internal stakeholders, especially those in Operations and IT, to align priorities and synchronize efforts that impact the accounting team's work.
Act as a liaison between the accounting team and other departments to ensure smooth communication and understanding of project objectives, timelines, and expectations.
Support the Operations Manager by stepping into a collaborative role on non-accounting projects as needed, extending guidance and coordination where required.


Qualifications and Requirements:

Education & Experience:
Minimum of 2–3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in an accounting-related role, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and processes.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Technical Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications; experience with time-tracking and project management tools is a plus.
Ability to interpret and analyze data with strong reporting skills.

Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and support team members.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
Ability to maintain a positive attitude and adaptability in an evolving environment.

As a key member of the Operations Management team, the Assistant Team Lead for Accounting Operations will play a critical role in achieving project goals and driving success across the accounting team.
