Ability to provide guidance on self-care when appropriate.Experience working with Electronic Medical/Health Records and documenting electronically.Experience with various computer software, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the internetTyping skills to prepare forms and correspondence with speed and accuracy.Skilled in speaking English clearly and distinctly, with appropriate grammar. Role and Responsibility: As a Telephone Triage Nurse accept telephone calls from patients with varying levels of acuity and types of medical concerns including but not limited toPerforms to the level of a licensed registered nurse as dictated by the Illinois Nurse Practice Act General health inquiriesChronic disease managementMedication ManagementMental health concernsPromote clear and coherent verbal communication following an appropriate line of questioning & clinical assessmentMedication advice: Provide advice on over-the-counter medications and recommend appropriate dosagesReferral to Healthcare providers: Direct patients to the appropriate healthcare provider if necessary, such as primary care physician, specialist or emergency departmentFollow-up care: Provide follow-up care, checking in with patients to see how they are doing and ensuring that they are following the recommended treatment plan Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustmentsManage prescription refills per protocol.Accurately documents symptoms/complaints, nursing assessments, advice provided and patient/caller response in patient and department records.Maintains accurate and detailed patient records and pertinent information; posts tests and documents patient education provided.
