Underwriting Associate

Job Description:
The underwriting associate assesses client risk, evaluates policies based on company standards, and makes decisions on insurance applications. They also handle data extraction for analyses, compile monthly renewal lists, and manage document reviews and uploads to the ERP system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collect appropriate and accurate information required to assess potential clients and decide on the acceptable risk for a policy.
• Evaluate policies with regards to the company's underwriting standards.
• Make a decision to accept, modify or reject an insurance application after scrutiny of all the required documents and studies regarding the risk involved.
• Extract and prepares utilization for use in analyses and reports
• Extract list of accounts due for renewal on monthly basis
• Review, Evaluates, upload to ERP the Summary of Benefits and Master Application Forms of Closed and Renewed Individual and Royal Accounts
• Performs other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.


Job Qualifications/Specifications:

• Bachelor's degree in BS Nursing or related Medical/Math courses
• Analytical thinker with research proficiencies
• Ability to use reasonable and sound judgment
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Thorough knowledge of databases and tracking systems
• Solid organizational skills and detail-oriented
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel Programs
• Good oral and written communication skills
• HMO experience and knowledge of health insurance products is an advantage
