Position: Steel Estimator (Australian Experience Preferred but not required)

Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret detailed structural steel drawings and specifications.
Prepare accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracting costs.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to gather project information.
Source and negotiate with suppliers for steel and other materials, ensuring competitive pricing.
Use estimation software to prepare cost breakdowns and manage budgets for steel fabrication and installation projects.
Provide project timelines and monitor project progress to ensure adherence to budgets and schedules.
Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and tender documentation.
Engage with clients and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
Review and adjust estimates based on project updates, client feedback, and any changes in project scope.
Conduct site visits to assess project needs and verify specifications.
Prepare post-project analysis to improve future estimation accuracy.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of experience in steel estimating, preferably with Australian accounts.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Equivalent industry experience may be considered.
Software Proficiency: Experience with estimation software such as Bluebeam, Beam, or other industry-relevant software.
Australian Standards: Strong knowledge of Australian building codes, regulations, and standards, particularly in steel construction.
Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex drawings and specifications.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, and project teams.
Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers.
Problem-Solving: Ability to solve estimation-related issues and make adjustments during the project lifecycle.
Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience working with Australian construction companies or contractors.
Familiarity with steel fabrication and erection processes.
Strong knowledge of structural steel and various metal alloys.
