Position Summary The Database Administrator is responsible for providing day-to-day management, capacity planning, performance optimization, incident resolution, and overall support for database systems, including systems running on the platform.
This position is an escalation point for critical core gaming systems and related outages. Provides assistance and monitoring across all IT projects using or interfacing with Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, and MSSQL and ensures that work outcomes are delivering the most effective and robust to-run business applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Set-ups, maintains and monitors of high availability of database servers. Closely work with the production support team in setting up testing environments, review of test plans and test cases, and investigating technical issues raised. Provide capacity planning of database server hardware resources. Ensure all server issues are addressed within a service level agreement (SLA) . Suggests and implements process and systems improvement. Work closely with the network team on company security policy. Creates and monitors a backup strategy. Provides patch management on database servers. Daily monitors system logs and provide root cause analysis of errors. Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information management, or equivalent. Strong and proven competencies in Oracle (RAC, Dataguard), MySQL (InnoDB Cluster, Master-Slave replication), Postgresql (PostgreHA) Experience in other databases, such as MS SQL and DB2, is recommended Experience in BCP/DR configuration and monitoring, including backup and recovery scenarios Adequate exposure in Data Warehousing, Stored Procedure optimization, SQL Server optimization, and Disk space optimization for performance (RAID and SAN) Demonstrated migrations of databases to newer versions. Work Experiences: With 10-12 years' work experience in Pastry, of which 3 years as Pastry Sous Chef or higher position. Work experience in luxury hotels, high volume integrated resorts with breadth of skills and knowledge across all aspects of pastry and baking. International experience preferred. Relevant Skills: At least five (5) years of career experience handling hundreds of servers and databases in a 24/7 environment. Experience with Virtualization Technologies is preferred. Strong experience in performance monitoring, database optimization, and index tuning. Successful implementation of Infrastructure roll-out, upgrades, administration, and decommission. Successfully implemented different high-availability solutions, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
