PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The primary purpose of the Senior Civil Works Design Engineer is to develop comprehensive designs, plans, and specifications for diverse civil engineering projects, including roads, drainage systems, sewer and water systems, and infrastructure. This role requires the use of advanced software tools, meticulous analysis, and ensuring that all designs meet safety and performance standards. The engineer must interpret building codes, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, effectively communicate technical concepts, oversee engineering designs, address deviations promptly, prepare detailed project reports, participate in project meetings and site visits, ensure data accuracy, identify process improvements, stay current with industry trends, and demonstrate adaptability and commitment to organizational success.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Develop detailed designs, plans, and specifications for civil engineering projects, including roads, drainage systems, sewer and water systems, and other infrastructure. Perform design calculations to determine the integrity and stability of proposed designs.
Utilize advanced software tools such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D for meticulous analyses, ensuring designs meet safety, performance, and durability requirements.
Interpret and apply relevant building codes, standards, and regulations such as NSCP, DPWH Design Guidelines, and AASHTO to ensure legal and safety compliance.
Prepare civil design plans, specifications, and estimates for a range of civil design projects.
Monitor project plans to ensure objectives are being satisfied and provide timely advice on any anticipated delays.
Review all design documentation for accuracy and suitability for construction in accordance with relevant standards.
Undertake technical investigations and prepare reports on civil design projects.
Provide assistance to other engineering design staff to promote harmony, teamwork, and a strong customer focus.
Handle technical aspects of design work, including design reviews. Analyze and ensure the accuracy of data crucial for design calculations, drawings, and reports.
Organize and calculate data essential for design calculations, drawings, and reports.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Oversee and ensure the integrity of all engineering designs and specifications across various projects. Address deviations or discrepancies promptly and implement corrective measures.
Develop and prepare comprehensive project reports, specifications, and drawings for client evaluation and endorsement.
Participate actively in project meetings, site visits, and inspections to oversee construction progress and address any design-related challenges.
Collaborate closely with the estimation team to create detailed specifications and precise cost estimates.
Work with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, and environmental specialists, to integrate various design elements seamlessly.
Communicate technical concepts and design recommendations effectively to internal stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies.
Ensure speedy and courteous responses to all inquiries and correspondence from clients, other departments, and authorities.
Maintain knowledge of policies, current best practices, and challenges in civil engineering design.
Stay updated with evolving industry trends, advancements, and best practices.
Contribute to the long-term planning and strategies relating to the engineering projects and programs within the CW Department.
Flexibly undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to organizational success.
EDUCATION, TECHNICAL CAPABILITY AND CAREER:
Licensed Civil Engineer demonstrating proficiency and adherence to professional standards and ethics.
Experience in handling civil engineering projects such roads, drainage systems, sewer, water systems, and infrastructure.
Experience in handling civil engineering projects, including Site Grading and Slope Protection, Road Layout & profiles and Details, Drainage and storm Water Management, earthworks, roadwork and Water Supply System (Distribution Line System)
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Civil Design Engineer.
Demonstrate proficiency and comprehensive understanding of all relevant engineering codes and standards such as such as NSCP, DPWH Design Guidelines, and AASHTO ensuring strict adherence to industry regulations.
Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing industry-standard software tools such as, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MS Office. Knowledge with other design software is a plus.
Capable of independently handling design projects from conception to completion, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards.
Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to tackle complex engineering challenges. Adept at identifying issues, evaluating options, and implementing effective solutions.
Demonstrates the ability to assess existing projects, identify weaknesses, and develop effective solutions, optimizing performance and longevity.
Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts effectively to colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
