**Role Accountabilities**:

- To be an integral part of the Learning Support Department and support the SEN Coordinator and SEN teacher
- To maintain strict confidentiality of all students' personal and educational information.
All employees are required to work in a confidential manner in all aspects of their work
- To have good understanding of the particular student's profile and to be able to use a variety of strategies to support this student
- To promote and enhance the learning and teaching experiences of the student in a range of different contexts including supporting within class, small groups or 1:1 sessions
- To assist in maintaining the student's progress record
- To assist the SEN Coordinator in providing the classroom teacher and or parent with regular feedback regarding the student
- To work and build a positive relationships with the student, to help overcome barriers to learning and to support them to maximise their learning potential
- A commitment to pastoral care, collaborative teamwork and flexible working with the student as central to every decision made

**Teaching and Learning**:

- Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction of the SEN Coordinator and SEN teacher
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for the student and help monitor their progress
- Provide support for the student within the classroom setting and in smaller provision groups, to enable them to access the curriculum and promote student progress (including social, emotional, and behavioral development) and learning
- To understand and work with different learning styles, with the emphasis on personalized learning
- To contribute effectively to the selection and preparation of teaching resources to meet the diversity of student needs and interests
- To evaluate the student's progress through a range of assessment activities and monitor the student's participation, progress, and responses to learning
- To provide feedback on the student's daily activities (e.g.
behavior, completed assignments, on/off task times, etc.)
to track progress
- To assist the student to make a successful transfer between educational establishments and transition at key stages in their learning if necessary
- Use a range of strategies to provide a purposeful learning environment and promoting good behaviour

**Support the student by**:

- Establishing a constructive relationship with the student and interacting with them according to their individual needs
- Setting challenging and demanding expectations, which promote self-esteem and independence
- Providing feedback to students in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher
- Using positive behavior management strategies in-line with the school's policy and procedures
- Using clearly structured teaching and learning activities that interest and motivate the student and support their learning
- Assisting in clarifying and explaining instructions and in developing appropriate resources to support the student
- Helping ensure that the student is able to use the appropriate equipment and materials provided
- Motivating and encouraging the student to do their best
- Meeting the student's physical needs as may be appropriate and required whilst encouraging independence

**Support the teacher by**:

- Jointly planning, evaluating, and adjusting learning activities as appropriate
- Demonstrating an understanding of child development and learning
- Demonstrating an awareness of the key factors that can affect the way your student learns.
- An understanding of the aims, content, teaching strategies, and intended outcomes for the lessons in which they are involved and an understanding of the place these in the related teaching programmes
- Endorsing health and safety issues and positive behaviour management plans
- Ability to effectively use ICT to support learning

**Support the school by**:

- Being aware of, and complying with, school policies and procedures, e.g.
health and safety, confidentiality, and physical intervention
- Contributing, in whatever ways possible, to the overall ethos, aims, and work of the school
- Appreciating and supporting the role of other professionals
- Being aware of and supporting differences and ensuring all students have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
- Accompanying teaching staff and the student on visits, trips, and out of school activities, as required
- Undertaking any other duties that the SEN Coordinator may reasonably direct
- Assisting in developing a relationship to foster links between home and the School
