The impact you'll make in the teamAs a critical and trusted member of the Systems Engineering team, you'll be working side-by-side with software engineers to design and deliver mission-critical services and systems. You'll be working with infrastructure and services at scale, utilizing a wide variety of cutting-edge technologies used to support our high-traffic real-time Freelancer.com marketplace and a range of other business products fully deployed in Amazon Web Services cloud and powered by Nginx, MySQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ, Consul, Docker, and Kubernetes. It is our mission to build highly resilient, dynamically scaling, self-healing systems by automating and monitoring everything.
Your Responsibilities You will manage Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure with a focus on security, high availability and cost using an Infrastructure-As-Code methodology using Terraform and Puppet.You will monitor the system health of deployed systems and ensure all failures are root caused using various tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Jenkins, and Kibana.Be the escalation point for high-priority, production-related issues.Be proactive and creative in identifying and addressing pain points through documentation, automation, scripting or redesigning existing infrastructure.Maintain documentation and processes around key infrastructure and services.Provide on-call support on a rotational basis, as required by the company.Shifts may change between morning and afternoon shifts as needed.Minimum Requirements Strong understanding of operating systems, networking and systems architecture.Strong experience working with Linux, as well as database, web, and file servers at scale in production environments.Strong experience with any cloud, virtualization, and/or container services (AWS, GCP, Azure, VMware, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, AWS ECS).Experience working with any configuration management and infrastructure orchestration tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, CloudFormation or Terraform.Programming experience with any of Python, Go, PHP, Ruby, Node.js.Experience with incident response and a security-focused mindset.Additional Benefits Fast-track your career growth – our meritocratic culture is known for promoting from within and producing industry leaders in tech.You will be working on an Alexa top-ranked website, solving complex, internet scale and global challenges in systems engineering with over 60 million customers across 247 countries, regions & territories.Engaging Weekly Town Halls with global presentations and open Q&A sessions with our CEO (feel free to ask him anything!).Regular social and team building events (think laser tag, escape rooms, karaoke, trivia nights, poker nights, and more).Quarterly hackathons with cash prizes.
