A Waiter/Server is responsible for delivering a high standard of customer service by taking orders, serving food and beverages, and attending to the needs of restaurant guests. They contribute to the overall dining experience and customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service:
• Greet customers as they arrive, seat them, and provide menus.
• Assist with inquiries, make recommendations, and provide attentive service throughout the meal.
2. Order Taking:
• Take customer food and drink orders accurately and efficiently.
• Transmit orders to the kitchen and ensure they are prepared correctly and in a timely manner.
3. Food and Beverage Service:
• Serve food and beverages, ensuring that dishes are presented attractively and in the correct order.
• Refill drinks, clear used dishes, and reset tables for the next course.
4. Customer Assistance:
• Attend to customer needs and special requests, such as dietary restrictions or allergies.
• Address any customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
5. Menu Knowledge:
• Familiarize yourself with the menu, including dish descriptions, ingredients, and preparation methods.
• Provide accurate and detailed explanations of menu items.
6. Cash Handling:
• Present bills, process payments, and provide accurate change.
• Keep track of customer tabs and ensure accurate billing.
7. Upselling:
• Suggest additional items, such as appetizers, desserts, or wine pairings, to enhance the dining experience and increase sales.
8. Cleanliness and Setup:
• Maintain the cleanliness of tables, chairs, and dining areas.
• Assist in setting up tables with flatware, glassware, and table linens.
9. Health and Safety:
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper food handling and hygiene.
• Ensure safety within the dining area and the work area.
