Job Purpose
The Senior Merchandising Manager will lead the strategic direction, planning, and execution of the merchandising function, ensuring that product assortment, pricing, and presentation align with customer needs and business objectives.
This role requires strong analytical skills, market trend awareness, and the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration to achieve sales and profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute merchandising strategies to drive revenue, growth, improve customer experience, and ensure competitive market positioning.
Assortment Management: Curate and optimize product assortments by analyzing market trends, consumer behavior, and sales data.
Vendor Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, negotiating terms, pricing, and product availability to support business goals.
Sales Performance Analysis: Regularly review sales performance, inventory levels, and margin data to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities for growth.
Pricing Strategy: Develop competitive pricing strategies and promotional plans collaboration with marketing and sales teams.
Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of merchandising professionals, fostering a culture performance and accountability.
Market Trends: Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and consumer insights to identify new business opportunities and risks.
Inventory Management: Collaborate with inventory and logistics teams to ensure optimal stock levels and timely replenishment.
Collaboration: Work closely with marketing, sales, and supply chain teams to support product launches, campaigns, and in-store/online merchandising efforts.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing or a related field; MBA is an advantage
• 5+ years of experience in merchandising, buying, or category management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Proficiency in merchandising systems, analytics tools, and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams
• Understanding of retail trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscapes.
