The Consultant will conduct BESS designing, testing, commissioning, or operating utility-scale battery energy storage systems, which includes the following:
Review of electrical design of battery-based energy storage technology. Review civil, structural, and electrical designs of battery-based energy storage project – design basis calculation, transport and storage arrangement, installation, data communication, commissioning, and testing. Design and evaluate the BESS system with applicable standards, codes, guidelines, and regulations (including regulatory requirements). Prepare FAT and integration test plans for BESS systems, as well as associated major equipment and components such as transformers, switchgear, etc., and conduct technical reviews of documents provided by suppliers. Project management of bids and projects throughout their life cycle – their development phase till their decommissioning via their relevant project development phase and milestones. Fundamental aspects and main characteristics of current battery technologies. Conduct a tendering process and bid evaluations for BESS project investments. Conduct a techno-economic assessment and technical and safety due diligence for BESS investments. Lead and deliver battery energy storage system (BESS) projects for DNV's clients. Work with a team of engineers, project managers, technology suppliers, and contractors to deliver high-quality and cost-effective BESS solutions for our clients. Provide technical expertise, guidance, and supervision to the project team, ensuring high quality and timely delivery of the project deliverables. Conduct business development, client relationship management, market intelligence activities, and proposal preparation. Requirements: Have at least five years of experience designing, testing, commissioning, or operating utility-scale renewable or battery energy storage systems. Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the power grid systems industry, with a proven track record of delivering complex and challenging projects. Must be a bachelor's degree holder, preferably with a master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering (or a closely related field). Have strong client management, team management, and process management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse and multicultural team. Familiarity with the relevant standards, codes, and regulations for BESS system calculation and design (civil, structural, and electrical), installation, operation, maintenance, commissioning, and decommissioning. Must have project management and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Willing to travel occasionally to support project delivery and business development activities.
