Position Title: Research Analyst (Deputy Head of Research / Senior Economist) Job Summary:
Supports the Chief Economist and Market Strategist in generating the Bank's official macro-economic forecasts and relevant research functions through the delivery of macro, industry, and strategy reports as and when necessary to appropriate stakeholders, particularly the Board, senior management, partner business units, institutional clients and HNWI customers, and the general public. The Senior Economist will:
Guide a team of economists and financial markets analysts in providing macro, industry and financial market research reports, forecasts and advisory services to the Bank's principals, various Board and management committees and partner business units.Assist and support the Chief Economist and Market Strategist in formulating market views, actionable investment ideas and advice on strategic and tactical multi-asset allocation to the bank's client-facing business units, particularly institutional and HNWI relationship managers.Publish original investment content across various media channels, particularly Wealth Insights, in collaboration with Analytics, Branding, Communication and Marketing Technology Group.Address macroeconomic and market-related research questions from the senior management and internal business units.Engage in thought-provoking discussions with senior investment team members on the global economic market landscape, asset allocation and portfolio strategy.Publish informative pieces for both internal and external use on relevant topics.Work on special projects as directed by FMS Leadership Team. Such projects may include envisioning, researching and/or working collaboratively to implement enhancements to our investment platform.Conduct regular economic and market briefings for clients as and when required in coordination with the client-facing business unit and as directed by the Chief Economist and Market Strategist.Perform other related functions that may be assigned from time to time.Qualifications: Experience working in wealth management, private banks or asset managementStrong knowledge of global financial marketsWorking knowledge of multi-asset class portfolio constructionAdept in econometric analysis, use of statistical packages, and forecastingAbility to articulate research and implement in a portfolio contextDesire to be client-facingSkilled communicator, with great presentation skillsExcellent at prioritizing and time managementAdept at initiating, nurturing and developing strong interpersonal relationshipsCreative and willing to think outside the boxTeam playerKey Deliverables: Present and brief regularly and as required senior management (including ALCO, SMC, Board of Directors, Risk Oversight Committee and marketing units) on the macro economic outlook, across the short, medium, and long term, to support and guide the Bank's corporate strategies and forward planning, as well as client engagement and initiatives for the bank and its various units.Address macroeconomic and market-related research questions from the senior management and internal business units.Oversee and monitor the department's forecasting models and implement adjustments accordingly.Publish regularly and on an ad hoc basis reports for internal and external distribution that analyze, interpret, and provide a view on relevant economic data and trends that impact the outlook of the Philippine economic landscape and financial markets.Present the macro economic outlook, forecasts, and views to the bank's clients in coordination with and as required by the relevant marketing/client facing unit.
