Your Role
As a DevOps Engineer, you are responsible for the secure and effective operation of technology used by GoGet. You will help manage the delivery of new software and systems into production environments, and ensure that these systems are monitored and maintained in accordance with operational goals and policy. You will work closely with our technical leadership team, architects, engineers (onshore and offshore) and other stakeholders to achieve these goals.
Reporting directly to our Engineering Lead - Operations, you will provide support for production systems and strive to continually improve the reliability and availability of our services. You will be proactive in your duties, focusing on prevention of incidents, adopting tools and automation where practical to help with these goals.
Working in a small team you will have a broad service focus, adapting to changes and willing to take on problems and challenges creatively in partnership with the Technology leadership team. You will also work closely with all parts of the Technology team to ensure internal alignment to priorities and business goals
Ongoing monitoring of the organisation's digital architecture, checking for performance and compliance.
Planning the evolution of software and IT systems.
Working with development teams on the building of websites, applications, and software pieces.
Keeping up with the management of internal databases.
Working to resolve issues and problems with systems and software, and to put in place measures to ensure these issues do not reoccur as part of our Incident Management framework.
Working with planning departments to get software and systems up and running in a timely manner, and ensuring long-term scalability for the business.
Developing digital infrastructure and working on automated code to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
Testing and maintaining digital infrastructure in the long term.
Building frameworks for software and application deployment.
Building platform environments to support auto-scaling for the business in the future.
Conducting analyses, and feeding this data back to relevant teams to support their efforts.
Staying on top of industry best practices and trends, as well as changes to compliance requirements.
Build and maintenance of build pipelines.
Change and release management as required
What You Need:
Strong fundamental knowledge of computing and networking principles and qualifications pertaining to DevOps capabilities.
Experience in a technology role, including minimum 7 years experience specifically in a DevOps capacity.
Strong knowledge of GCP and/or AWS and relative cloud patterns and technologies. The senior role must have "some" GCP experience, but the junior role can be any cloud experience.
Strong knowledge of Linux fundamentals and demonstrable knowledge of a variety of scripting languages (such as Python, javascript. bash etc.).
Strong automation skills, including experience with source code management, build and release pipelines (CI/CD), performance monitoring and alerting etc.
Strong security skills, particularly within a GCP cloud environment.
Experience in testing and test automation with tools such as Selenium (preferred).
Proficiency in configuration management, containerisation and deployment technologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of users.
Exceptional time management, multi-tasking and organisational skills.
Strong knowledge of ITIL or related operational frameworks.
