Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the preparation and maintenance of financial records, ledgers, and reports in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
2. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
3. Manage and monitor the organization's budget, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
4. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and career development.
5. Ensure proper delegation of tasks and responsibilities within the accounting team.
6. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
7. Coordinate and facilitate external and internal audits and implement recommendations for procedural improvements.
8. Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the organization's assets.
9. Continuously monitor and enhance accounting systems and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
10. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
11. Ensure timely reconciliation of bank statements and other financial accounts.
12. Prepare and present financial analysis and reports for senior management, including variance analysis and key financial performance metrics.
13. Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to support business decision-making.
14. Manage and optimize the use of accounting software and financial systems.
15. Stay updated with industry trends and recommend system upgrades or process improvements as necessary.
16. Lead or participate in financial projects and initiatives, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
17. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support organizational goals and initiatives.
18. Assist in the development and implementation of the organization's long-term financial strategy.
19. Provide financial modeling and analysis to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
20. Act as a key liaison between the accounting department and other departments, providing financial insights and support.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification required.
2. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a management role.
3. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
4. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
5. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
6. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and strategic planning.
