Security Researcher As a Security Researcher on the SpiderLabs IDPS team, you will be primarily responsible for developing IDS/IPS signatures for Suricata for alerting on network-based threats. Additionally, you will work with our Malware, Email Security, DFIR, and other teams to collect network IoCs. This work includes monitoring for emerging threats and research of past exploits and vulnerabilities and applying that research to high quality detection and prevention signatures.
Requirements Knowledge of TCP/IP and general network security Experience writing Snort and Suricata rules Experience with PCRE Experience with network inspection tools like wireshark and tcpdump Ability to analyze packet captures Self-starter with the ability to work on projects with minimal oversight Ability to collaborate with other research teams and coordinate development efforts with fellow team members Experience working with and troubleshooting Suricata Experience with a scripting language, preferably Python Ability to follow exploit source code in a variety of languages for the purpose of developing signatures Experience with exploit development Experience with patch or malware reversing Experience with Yara signatures Education We prefer college-educated applicants, but at minimum, high school diploma or equivalent is required for employment.
