The Safety Officer 2 is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures. This role involves conducting inspections, providing training, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Policy Implementation:
- Enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies across all operational areas.
- Update and maintain safety procedures to align with current laws and industry standards.
Site Inspections and Audits:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace to identify hazards.
- Prepare reports on findings and recommend corrective actions to management.
Risk Assessment:
- Perform risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize workplace hazards.
- Collaborate with departments to assess potential risks related to specific projects.
Training and Development:
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, including orientation for new hires.
- Ensure all staff are trained in emergency procedures and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Incident Investigation:
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Document findings and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure all employees are familiar with procedures.
- Coordinate with local emergency services and ensure compliance with emergency response regulations.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure the organization complies with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and other local regulations.
- Prepare necessary documentation for safety audits and inspections.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incidents, and compliance audits.
- Prepare safety reports for management review and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and workers to promote a culture of safety and share best practices.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns.
