Job Title: Purchasing Assistant (Food Manufacturing)

Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
Technical or vocational courses in purchasing or supply chain management are advantageous.
Experience:
1-2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations, preferably in the food or manufacturing industry.
Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA, ISO) is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in purchasing systems, including inventory and vendor management, and purchase order systems.
Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) or procurement software.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for managing purchase orders and inventory tracking.
Understanding of food supply chains, raw material sourcing, packaging, and vendor negotiations.
Negotiation and Vendor Management:
Strong negotiation skills to secure optimal pricing and quality from suppliers.
Experience in managing supplier relationships, ensuring timely deliveries, and monitoring vendor performance.
Inventory Management:
Ability to track inventory levels, preventing overstocking or shortages.
Experience handling perishable goods and managing stock rotation.
Organizational Skills:
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple purchase orders and follow-ups.
Attention to detail when processing purchase orders and invoices.
Communication and Coordination:
Excellent communication skills to liaise with suppliers, warehouse, production, and management teams.
Ability to collaborate with various departments to meet production requirements.
Compliance and Documentation:
Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards to ensure product compliance.
Experience with documentation for imported goods, customs clearance, and certifications.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to resolve supplier issues such as delayed deliveries or defective products by implementing contingency plans.
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
Certifications in Purchasing Management or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM).
Training in food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, ServSafe) is an advantage.
