Job Title: Purchasing Assistant
Salary: ?18,000 - ?18,500 per month
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Purchasing Assistant to support our procurement operations, particularly in the food manufacturing sector. The role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, tracking inventory, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in purchasing raw materials, ingredients, and packaging for production.
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely deliveries.
Track inventory levels to avoid shortages and manage stock rotation for perishable goods.
Use ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel for inventory management and purchase order processing.
Ensure compliance with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, FDA, ISO).
Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse, production, and management teams.
Prepare and process purchase orders, invoices, and import documentation.
Qualifications: Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field (preferred).
Technical or vocational courses in purchasing or supply chain management are an advantage.
Experience:
1-2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations.
Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Experience with purchasing systems, ERP (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Knowledge of food supply chains and vendor management.
Negotiation and Vendor Management:
Strong negotiation skills to secure the best deals and maintain supplier relationships.
Inventory Management:
Ability to manage inventory levels and handle perishable goods efficiently.
Organizational Skills:
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple purchase orders and documentation.
Communication and Coordination:
Strong communication skills for collaborating with various departments.
Compliance and Documentation:
Knowledge of food safety regulations and experience with import documentation.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to handle supplier issues and develop contingency plans.
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
Certifications in Purchasing Management or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM).
Training in food safety (e.g., HACCP, ServSafe) is a plus.
