Purchaser or Fashion Buyer (Rolling Intake) The position involves researching, evaluating, and purchasing raw materials, fabrics, trims, and accessories to manufacture clothing products.
Developed fabrics and trims needed on collection. Conduct market research to identify new trends, materials, apparel, and garment suppliers. Analyze market trends, pricing, and supplier capabilities to make informed purchasing decisions. Monitor competitors' strategies related to sourcing and purchasing of materials. Supplier Identification and Evaluation: Identify potential suppliers for raw materials, fabrics, trims, and accessories. Evaluate suppliers based on quality, reliability, pricing, lead times, and ethical practices. Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions for the company. Cost Management: Work closely with the Merchandising team to develop and manage budgets for purchasing raw materials. Implement cost-saving strategies and propose alternative materials and suppliers without compromising on quality or production timelines. Monitor and analyze material costs to identify opportunities for cost optimization. Provide monthly expense report and price matrix of raw materials. Inventory Management: Coordinate with production planning teams to forecast material requirements and maintain optimal inventory levels. Implement inventory management best practices to minimize excess inventory and stockouts. Develop and maintain relationships with logistics partners for efficient material handling and delivery. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Creative, Production Planning, and Merchandising teams to understand their requirements and align purchasing strategies accordingly. Participate in cross-functional meetings to discuss product development, sourcing strategies, and market trends. Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support overall business objectives. Minimum Qualifications Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Proven experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain management in the apparel or retail industry. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of industry trends, materials, and supplier networks. Familiarity with inventory management systems and procurement software. Understanding of quality assurance processes and sustainability principles. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
