We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychosocial Officer to join the multidisciplinary team at the Cebu Comprehensive Cleft Care Center of Excellence. As part of Operation Smile Philippines, the Psychosocial Officer will provide essential emotional and psychological support to cleft patients and their families. This role focuses on addressing the mental health and social challenges faced by individuals with cleft conditions, ensuring that they receive comprehensive, holistic care throughout their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct psychosocial assessments for cleft patients and their families to identify emotional, social, and psychological needs.Provide individual and group counseling services to cleft patients and their families, offering support throughout the pre- and post-surgical process.Develop and implement psychosocial care plans, working closely with the multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, speech therapists, nutritionists, and other healthcare professionals.Organize and facilitate support groups for families and patients to share experiences, foster resilience, and build a supportive community.Offer crisis intervention and manage emotional distress for patients and families dealing with the challenges of cleft conditions and surgeries.Educate families and caregivers on the psychosocial impact of cleft conditions, equipping them with coping strategies and resources for ongoing support.Participate in training programs and workshops aimed at healthcare professionals and students, helping to raise awareness and understanding of the psychosocial aspects of cleft care.Collaborate with community resources and external organizations to provide comprehensive social support services.Maintain confidential and accurate records of all patient interactions, assessments, and progress in accordance with medical and ethical guidelines.Engage in research activities to assess the impact of psychosocial interventions on cleft patient outcomes and contribute to improving best practices in cleft care.Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.Licensed Social Worker or Psychologist in the Philippines is preferred.Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychosocial support, counseling, or working with patients with congenital conditions, preferably cleft care.Strong understanding of child and family dynamics, particularly in medical or surgical contexts.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect effectively with patients, families, and team members.A passion for family-centered care and advocating for patient well-being.Ability to manage emotional crises and offer support in high-stress environments.Commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to contribute to the advancement of psychosocial care in cleft treatment.Why Join Us: At the Cebu Comprehensive Cleft Care Center of Excellence, you will have the opportunity to transform lives by offering crucial emotional and social support to cleft patients and their families.
