Job Description Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of film production, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and at the desired quality level. This role involves managing the logistics of production, coordinating with crew members, managing budgets, scheduling, and ensuring compliance with safety and legal regulations. The Production Manager is a crucial part of the production team, working closely with the Line Producer and other department heads to keep the production on track.
Responsibilities Budget Management Develop, manage, and track the production budget, ensuring that costs stay within approved limits. Work with the Line Producer to allocate resources efficiently, monitor expenditures, and address budget discrepancies. Approve expenses, manage petty cash, and handle financial reporting and reconciliations. Scheduling & Planning Create and maintain a detailed production schedule, coordinating with key departments to ensure timelines are met. Plan and organize all production activities, including location scouting, set construction, equipment rentals, and transportation. Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes or unforeseen challenges while keeping the project on track. Crew & Talent Coordination Work with the hiring team to recruit and hire production crew members, ensuring the right skills are represented on set. Oversee daily crew activities, manage call sheets, and coordinate between departments to ensure smooth workflow. Ensure talent and crew are briefed on shooting schedules, location details, and production protocols. Logistics Management Coordinate logistics, including transportation, accommodation, and meals for cast and crew, particularly for location shoots. Oversee equipment rentals, location permits, and on-site setups, ensuring all resources are available as needed. Manage production office operations, including office supplies, production vehicles, and equipment storage. Compliance & Safety Enforce health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. Conduct risk assessments, implement safety measures, and oversee safety briefings for cast and crew. Address any safety incidents or concerns promptly and implement corrective actions. Communication & Reporting Serve as a central communication point between production departments, ensuring that all parties are informed of schedules and changes. Report regularly to the Line Producer and Executive Producer on production progress, financial status, and any issues encountered. Prepare production reports, including cost breakdowns, daily progress reports, and post-production summaries. Problem-Solving & Adaptability Quickly address production challenges, from equipment malfunctions to weather disruptions, finding creative solutions to maintain workflow. Adapt to last-minute changes or delays, reorganizing resources and schedules to keep the production on track. Collaborate with department heads to make adjustments and resolve conflicts as they arise.
