The Primary Design Engineer develops high quality designs for Primary High Voltage (HV) systems. They are guided by the Principal and Senior Engineers, assisting with the designing, testing and commissioning of HV systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ENGINEERING
• Devise designs compliant with standards and specifications.
• Provision of assistance with preparation of tenders.
• Assist with project management as required.
• Provision of assistance with engineering, technical analysis and report generation.
• Assistance with the commissioning of HV systems.
• Assistance with Project Management in specialist areas of expertise; provide technical and engineering assistance to Project Managers.
• Primary: Substation primary system design, specification and documentation.
• Overhead Lines: Overhead line design, specification and documentation.
• Earthing: Earthing design, specification, documentation and studies

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
• Must have a Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical Engineering, or Civil Engineering Chartered / Professional Engineer (preferred)
• Turnkey project expertise in high voltage substation design, layout, codes of practice and associated civil, structural, and primary electrical works
• Significant experience in substation design, including evidence of large substation projects and the ability to lead designs
• Proficient with CAD Software
• Industry Standard practices for construction of high voltage substations
• ISO900/ QA processes and procedures, and AS standards
• A logical and practical approach to work
• High levels of attention to detail
• Outcome and customer focused
• Ability to liaise with client engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
