Responsibilities:• Keeping patients and their families informed about surgical procedures• Administering medication and using medical equipment under the direction of a surgeon• Responding to sudden changes in patients' health and managing occasional emergencies• Keeping good records and maintaining patients' charts• Using basic math skills adequate for dosage calculations• Working with surgeons, medical/surgical nurses and post-acute caregivers to create comprehensive patient care from pre- to post-op• Standing for long periods, lifting moderate weight and working in environments where there may be infectious materialRequirements:• Strong organizational abilities and the ability to communicate clearly and accurately• Stable emotions and a professional demeanor when interacting with people from all backgrounds• A valid nursing certificate or BSN degree from an accredited college or university• National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) certification• Current vaccinations and a lack of communicable diseases that might endanger patients with compromised immune systems• Careful attention to detail and an exacting approach to keeping charts and following care plans
