Summary: Responsible for the routine clinical laboratory diagnosis. Responsible for the effective management of laboratory biosafety to the agreed specification and performance, and qualitative targets. Responsible for coordination with the pathologists, chief medical technologist, and other section chiefs to properly execute the laboratory section's goals and targets. Work shall still be defined by the existing Philippine Republic Act No. 5527. Requirements: Certificate of Training in Laboratory Biosafety (OPTIONAL) rHIVda Certificate HIV Proficiency HIV Counseling Drug Test Analyst Certificate Specific Job Responsibilities: Conduct proper sample collection, pre-analysis, analysis, and post-analysis. Provide immediate supervision at the medical laboratory biosafety practice-wise:
Ensure that the standard laboratory practice for a biosafe laboratory is followed. Activate spill containment procedures in case of spills within the laboratory in the absence of the biosafety officer. Perform daily physical facility checks when on site duty. Participate in managerial review for addressing issues involving the laboratory, specifically the microbiology section. Initial point of contact to resolve biosafety issues; refer or elevate issues to the head of the laboratory if deemed severe. Perform routine laboratory procedures. Ensure that the laboratory follows the biosafety standards in collaboration with the head of the laboratory and regulatory team. Manage availability and ordering of reagents and supplies in the assigned section:
Ensure test availability. Implement recommended equipment and physical facility maintenance at the assigned laboratory section. Maintain important laboratory-related records of the assigned section:
Ensure proper retention and disposal of records as per DOH A.O. 2022 – 007. Safekeep each reagent and chemical material and safety data sheet, ensuring documents are readily available. Keep regulatory documents (EQAS Documents, NEQAS documents) available for internal auditors or the regulatory bureau. Maintain copies of incident reports. Align with the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) set by the immediate supervisor. Review standard operating procedures and algorithms for laboratory procedures:
Provide initial revisions and updates with the Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures for review and approval by the head of the laboratory. Participate in laboratory and inventory audits:
Ensure that reagent and consumable utilization as well as wastage are accounted for. Monitor quality control measures daily:
Provide initial checks of the quality control. Prepare monthly reports and submit them to the chief medical technologist and laboratory supervisor:
Report on the performance of tests in the assigned lab section. Report the wastage census of the laboratory monthly. Report test send-out census monthly. Participate in selection, evaluation, and procurement of new laboratory instruments and supplies for the microbiology section:
Ensure that validation studies are performed properly and document the validation process. Job Type: Full-time
