JOB SUMMARY: The Medical Director in a pre-employment diagnostic healthcare facility within the Maritime Industry is responsible for providing medical leadership and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality pre-employment medical services to maritime personnel. This role involves developing medical protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of excellence in healthcare delivery.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide strategic direction and medical expertise to the healthcare team in the delivery of pre-employment medical services. Develop and implement clinical protocols, guidelines, and best practices to ensure the highest standards of care.Oversee the quality assurance program to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of pre-employment medical services. Implement quality improvement initiatives based on data analysis and feedback to enhance patient care and outcomes.Stay abreast of maritime regulations, guidelines, and industry standards related to pre-employment medical screenings and healthcare services. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain accreditation standards for the facility.Develop and update medical protocols and procedures for pre-employment medical screenings, including health assessments, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing. Ensure that medical protocols align with industry regulations and best clinical practices.Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including healthcare providers, administrative staff, and quality assurance personnel, to optimize the delivery of pre-employment medical services. Foster a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and promote effective communication and teamwork.Provide medical training and education to healthcare staff involved in pre-employment medical screenings. Conduct ongoing training sessions, workshops, and educational programs to enhance clinical skills, knowledge, and competencies.Develop and implement emergency response protocols and procedures for medical incidents that may occur during pre-employment screenings. Ensure that staff are trained and prepared to respond effectively to medical emergencies.Identify potential risks and liabilities associated with pre-employment medical services and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Implement risk management protocols to minimize adverse events and ensure patient safety.QUALIFICATIONS: A medical degree from an accredited College or University is required.Board certification in a relevant medical specialty (e.g., occupational medicine, internal medicine).An active, current medical license in good standing in the Country of origin is required.Experience in occupational or maritime medicine preferred.Strong leadership and management skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of maritime regulations and industry standards.Commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
