The Position The Opportunity: As the Head of Legal and Compliance, you will be responsible for leading all legal and compliance activities to enable Roche Philippines (Diagnostics) to be commercially successful in the Philippines. As a member of the leadership team, be a strategic partner to all the departments, particularly to the business teams. You will t ake a key role in promoting high standards of integrity. Ensure compliance in line with global Roche guidelines as well as local laws and regulations through adequate procedures and process controls. You will report directly to the Country Manager who is a member of the affiliate's leadership team.
As the Head of Legal and Compliance, you will be responsible for: Closely monitor, research and keep abreast of trends and changes of relevant global, regional and local legal and regulatory requirements and standards, identify areas where events and topics have significant impacts on Roche activities and operation and propose risk mitigation action plans for implementation.
Represent Roche Diagnostics Philippines when dealing with Regional / Global legal and compliance teams, including internal and external auditors, as well as with external lawyers.
Align with Roche Philippines (Pharma) under a single legal entity sitting under Roche Pharma.
Support the Financial Controller to ensure all official and contractual documents and legal activities/practices are in line with local laws, and the risk for potential litigations is adequately mitigated.
Proactively propose compliant and law-abiding paths and mechanisms to reach commercial goals. Review and approve/reject commercial contracts in the context of local laws and regulations and Roche standards.
Together with the commercial team, ensure the proper onboarding and compliance management of commercial distributors, such labor cases that may affect Roche Diagnostics Philippines, together with the local Provide insights into labor law and manage and represent Roche in
One Roche legal representation, including communications and alignment with external counsel and local courts.
Partner with the relevant departments such as Marketing, Medical, Sales, Service and Support, etc to ensure compliance in interactions with HCPs, Patients, Patient Associations, and other entities in the Philippines.
Support and align with Quality and Regulatory Affairs (QRA) in ensuring compliance with local laws to obtain the appropriate permits/licenses to import, export, promote, and sell Roche and and other partner products.
As the local Compliance Officer, foster a climate and culture of compliance through trainings, monitoring and pro-actively addressing compliance issues. Support the company's comprehensive compliance program, ensure its effectiveness monitored, including required trainings, and non-compliance matters addressed adequately
Operate independently to assure senior management that business activities are within an adequate control framework, identify and close gaps in policies and processes, and optimize compliance standards while managing risks.
Who You Are: University degree majoring in Law with local (Philippines) legal qualification is required. A postgraduate degree (e.g. MSc or higher) in a relevant area would be desirable.
Preferably 6+ years of experience in recognized law firm, accounting firm, or multinational company's legal, compliance or internal audit function, with strong interest in compliance.
Proven knowledge and expertise in areas such as Life Sciences, Medical Device Industry/IVD, Pharmaceuticals, Hospital Networks, etc
Proven ability to identify and mobilize resources, in a timely manner, that partner with others to achieve stated goals.
Demonstrated ability to proactively identify, develop and execute strategies to build competences to be future-ready and best-in-class.
Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders with courageous authenticity and builds trust with individuals of all levels.
