Salary Monthly: Php 25,000
Job Summary: A Laboratory Assistant is a critical support role in scientific and medical settings, responsible for facilitating the smooth operation of a laboratory. Working under the supervision of scientists, technologists, or other laboratory personnel, the Laboratory Assistant performs a wide range of tasks related to sample handling, equipment maintenance, data management, and quality control. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory operations..
Duties/Responsibilities:
Laboratory Preparation: Â You will be responsible for preparing the laboratory before experiments, which may involve setting up equipment, instruments, and materials needed for the research. This includes sterilizing equipment, cleaning work areas, and ensuring proper disposal of waste. Equipment Maintenance: Â You will assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment. This includes regular cleaning, troubleshooting, and reporting any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel. Sample Handling: Â As a laboratory assistant, you will handle and process various samples, such as biological specimens, chemicals, or substances. This may involve labeling, storing, and organizing samples correctly, following specific protocols and safety guidelines. Data Entry and Documentation:Â Accurate record-keeping is crucial in a laboratory setting. You will be responsible for documenting experimental procedures, observations, and results. This includes entering data into computer systems, maintaining laboratory notebooks, and ensuring data integrity. Inventory Management: Â You will assist in managing laboratory supplies, including ordering and stocking materials, chemicals, and consumables. Keeping track of inventory levels, monitoring expiration dates, and ensuring adequate supply availability is part of your responsibility. Safety and Compliance: Â Laboratory safety is paramount. You will follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. This includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), proper waste disposal, and handling hazardous materials appropriately. Assistance in Experiments and Research: Â You will provide assistance to scientists and researchers during experiments and research projects. This may involve preparing solutions, conducting routine tests, operating laboratory instruments, and collecting data under the supervision of senior personnel. Quality Control: Â You may be involved in quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results. This may include performing routine quality checks, calibrating instruments, and participating in proficiency testing programs. Collaboration and Communication : Effective communication is essential in a laboratory setting. You will collaborate with other laboratory staff, scientists, and researchers to share information, coordinate tasks, and report any issues or progress. Compliance with Regulations : As a laboratory assistant, you will adhere to regulatory guidelines, such as Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), depending on the specific field. This includes maintaining cleanliness, accuracy, and confidentiality in the laboratory. Undertake basic administrative tasks such as inventories, filing and answering queries. Educational Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biology, biotechnology, or a related discipline is typically required. Some positions may accept candidates with an associate degree or laboratory technician certification.
