GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Network Engineer is a key member of the Infrastructure team and is responsible for the design, configuration, monitoring, and continued delivery of the companys global enterprise data & voice infrastructure and services, engages with customers, suppliers, and other IT teams to deliver & implement technical solutions to meet business requirements, and provides technical support of enterprise networks and environments to ensure they are operating efficiently and maintains systems readiness. Essential Responsibilities: Proficient in network architecture, design, configurations, and management of systems and equipment within a global enterprise environmentParticipates in the design, planning, and implementation all enterprise infrastructure data & voice networks, including on-premises and cloud-based environments, firewalls, switches, routers, wireless controllers, access-points, network devices & sensors, and access controlsEngages with customers and business units to determine business requirements for new environments and provide improvements to existing systems & servicesDevelops and maintains technical documentation, instructions, guidelines, drawings, and plansPerforms analysis and review on systems and environments for improvement and efficienciesPerforms test and evaluations of proposed designs and solutionsAdheres to approved processes and industry best practicesImplements strategies for business continuity and disaster recoveryPerforms capacity planning of systems, environments, licenses and recommends improvements or solutions based on performance metrics and analytical, historical dataParticipates in asset lifecycle managementParticipates in on-call responsibilities in support of operational requirements Engages with OEM & other vendors for technical support, professional services in support of infrastructure equipment and environmentsPerforms upgrades and configurations to infrastructure hardware, software, and servicesProficient in security principles, concepts, methodologies, techniques, and its application to infrastructure systems, equipment, and servicesProvide reports and presentations on infrastructure improvements and strategies and present to managementLead technical discussions on network infrastructure projects, gather necessary requirements to meet business requirements, and deliver solution recommendationsResponsible for continued monitoring and optimization the network resources and servicesAbility to effectively communicate and collaborate with other teams and business stakeholders for positive resultsSupporting customer and industry compliance governance, such as PCI, SOC. HIPAA, HiTrust, and ISO certifications Strong understanding of MPLS, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, HSRP, VLANs, Port-Channels, Trunking, PVLAN, SPAN, L2tp, Multicast, ipv6, Metro Ethernet, LAN/WAN and all other protocols, configurations/technologies and all cable & fiber optic types and connectorsAbility to mentor and pass on valuable skills, knowledge, and insights to the team members and help them develop or complete tasks/projects Proficient in network security principles & methodologies and firewall design, configuration, deployment, and management Proficient in network L2/L3 switching and routing principles, methodologies design, configuration, deployment, and management Firm understanding of network voice infrastructure and voice environments Additional Skills/Requirements: Knowledge of the ITIL framework & philosophies including Incident, Problem, & ChangeExperience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Extreme Networks routing & switching equipment highly preferred Experience in Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor and Netflow Traffic Analyzer preferred Strong knowledge of multiple brands of next-Gen firewalls such as Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, & Fortigate is preferredAdvanced knowledge of adjacency routing and fabric networksStrong knowledge of WAN/SDWAN architectures and technologies Knowledge of call center environments & needsFamiliar with cloud based corporate phone servicesDemonstrated ability to learn new concepts and apply them to the business environmentAbility to read and interpret documents, instructions and information Ability to speak effectively to groups courteously and tactfully in person, on phone, etc. about technical or complex issuesAbility to analyze/interpret and solve problems with little supervisionAbility to make decisions in concert with policies, procedures, objectives and philosophies of the company is essentialRequired to travel up to 25% of the time by automobile or airplane both domestically and internationallyProtects organization's value by keeping network-related information confidential Education and/or Experience: Undergraduate degree preferred in an IT discipline such as Networking, Computer Science or Engineering degree5+ years of experience as a Network EngineerPalo Alto Network Certification preferred: PCCSA, PCNSA, PCNSEAvaya or Extreme Network technology certifications preferred: ECS or ECNAOther acceptable certifications: CCAr, CCIE in Routing & Switching, Data Center, or SecurityUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
