Team and Role Introduction:
The Head of Retail Buying has two reporting lines:
- Solid reporting line to the Head of Retail
- Dotted-reporting line to the Head of Seller OperationsThe role is a people manager role responsible for:
- Retail: buying strategy, business development, margin management, supplier growth, etc
- Category PIC and Search Operations: category initiatives, assortment operations, search optimization, etc
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
Retail buying
- Grow both our flagship and retailer business models
- Develop and execute the assortment plan across categories, price-points, and brands
- Onboard, develop, and sustain suppliers into the retail business
- Secure the right margins to enable the business to invest in growth while staying sustainableCategory and search operations
- Drive category innovations through projects and initiatives
- Coordinate across commercial and functional teams to maximize growth of key categories
- Upgrade search user experience through search relevance, recommendations, and standardization operationsInsights and steering
- Provide forecasts, insights, and recommendations for retail's KPIs, key battles, and initiatives
- Conduct competitive analyses and benchmarks
- Establish cadences to effectively and efficiently operate the business
- Critique current operating procedures and provide change recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiencyStrategy, Planning, and Priorities management
- Scope, plan, and execute project plans in varying degrees of independence
- Develop and maintain operating procedures, contingencies, and process improvements
- Drive initiatives to success – be hands-on, detail-oriented, entrepreneurial, and analytical with each engagement. Being a thought partner, and a collaborator
- Be a strong collaborator with local and regional teammates and stakeholders
