Drake's top client – an IT company is hiring a Head of Accounting be part of their collaborative team in Makati City.
Summary:
We are seeking a Head of Accounting who will also act as a Senior Accounting Strategist, bringing
deep expertise in General Accounting, Local Philippine finance and taxation, and strategic
compliance management.
This individual will oversee the entirety of the accounting function while
driving strategic initiatives to ensure full compliance with Philippine laws, particularly with the Bureau of
Internal Revenue (BIR) and other regulatory agencies.
The successful candidate will have a unique blend of technical accounting knowledge and strategic
acumen, enabling them to lead complex financial operations, ensure compliance, and contribute to
corporate decision-making.
Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills are essential, along
with a proactive and collaborative mindset.
Responsibilities:

• Accounting Leadership & Oversight
• Manage the company's balance sheet, including identifying and resolving outstanding balances.
• Oversee monthly reconciliations, ensuring accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
• Present monthly and quarterly account reconciliation summaries to management.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of financial statements in compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS).
• Provide guidance and training to accounting team members, fostering a culture of accuracy and excellence.
• Taxation Compliance & Expertise
• Serve as the company's primary expert on BIR and other government agency compliance, including VAT, income tax, withholding tax, and other statutory requirements.
• Monitor changes in Philippine tax laws, ensuring ongoing compliance while minimizing liabilities.
• Develop and execute tax strategies to optimize the company's financial position.
• Assist in financial audits, implement audit recommendations, and maintain internal controls.
• Strategic Financial Management
• Analyze complex financial reports and records to support business strategy.
• Work closely with the CFO to prepare monthly revenue and expenditure reports.
• Provide financial expertise and actionable recommendations based on corporate commitments and forecasts.
• Collaborate with senior management to align financial operations with business objectives and optimize resources.
• Leadership & Collaboration
• Mentor and develop the accounting team, cultivating a high-performing, collaborative, and growth-oriented culture.
• Take ownership of accounting projects and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Work cross-functionally with other departments to support company-wide goals.
• Process Improvement & Digital Transformation
• Spearhead accounting projects aimed at improving processes and increasing efficiency.
• Document, monitor, and enhance internal controls.
• Utilize software applications and accounting systems for improved financial operations.
• Compliance Reporting & External Relations
• Prepare accounting records and financial reports as per company and regulatory standards.
• Represent the company during tax audits, hearings, and external reviews.
• Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors and tax consultants

Qualifications:

• With CPA license.
MBA is an advantage.
• With more than 8 years of Philippine General Accounting experience, with 5 years in a leadership role.
• Background in BIR, SEC, and Audit compliance.
• Hands-on experience supporting medium to large-scale organizations, including high-volume operations.
• Proficient in Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and various accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office application particularly MS excel.
• Proactive, detail oriented, strong time management skills.
• Can work independently with minimal supervision, delivering high-quality results, and possesses strong interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and communication.
• Willing to work on a hybrid setup (2x/month), flexible time (PH/GMT time)
