Role Purpose
In this role you will team with EY professionals and client stakeholders to advise many of the world's largest organisations, fastest-growing companies and private equity firms on the tax implications arising from some of the most complex, high-profile deals in the market.  

The transactions market is a major part of EY's go to market strategy. Working in our International Tax and Transaction Services team, you will be given the tools, training and flexibility to work on interesting and varied matters to grow your career exponentially. 
Role Competencies and Responsibilities
You will be expected to fulfil the following role competencies and responsibilities as a Senior Consultant of EY GDS
You also agree to perform all other reasonable duties and comply with reasonable and lawful instructions by the Firm.
Technical Competence  
•    Working with other advisors across multi-disciplines to support our clients through buyside and sell-side, restructuring transactions or other international tax advisory projects.  
•    Undertaking tax due diligence to identify tax risks and opportunities, including reviewing documentation, meeting with management and other advisors and preparing a due diligence report. 
•    Assessing the alternative options available for structuring a transaction having regard to the stakeholders' commercial objectives.  Preparing a tax structure paper outlining the steps to set up the structure and the tax consequences of the structure through implementation, maintenance and exit.   
•    Supporting clients to model the tax assumptions for the financial projections of a transaction. 
•    Reviewing the tax aspects of the legal documentation supporting transactions, including sale and purchase agreements, tax indemnities and transitional agreements. 
•    Supporting clients through the tax aspects of transitional integration or divestment at completion of a transaction. 
Problem Solving
•    Demonstrate a strong ability to develop an understanding of increasingly complex business concepts, discuss complex business issues with the engagement team and client management, keep informed of current legislative developments, and effectively apply knowledge to client situations. 
•    Thoroughly and accurately analyse information, assisting EY member firm leaders in preparing practical and creative solutions to a client's situation and arriving at appropriate engagement considerations, recommendations and implementation plans. 
•    Assisting EY member firm leaders in making quality decisions in the more complex, judgmental areas after consulting with others, when appropriate.
Market Leadership & Growth 
•    Assist with business development through practical support, such as researching and collating relevant information.
•    Prepare presentation slides and support in client meetings and presentations. 
•    Demonstrate knowledge of client and the industry in which they operate. 
•    Show urgency when responding to clients' needs, queries and concerns while adhering to EY policy
Quality & Risk Management
•    Communicate effectively with client contacts through careful questioning and listening.
•    Values and models excellent client service by establishing goals and implementing plans to a high standard and within expected timeframes 
•    Prepare project work within a number of defined service offerings, working under supervision.
•    Respond promptly to all client requests while adhering to review procedures.
Develop Self & Others
•    Achieve expected competency levels contained within the Performance Management and Development process and participate in EY and/or EY professional development initiatives as required.  This includes ensuring that you have complied with all relevant CPD requirements if applicable.
•    Participate in and, where appropriate, lead internal education sessions 
•    Assist with and supervise the work of less experienced personnel, delegate work and monitor progress.  Ensure on the job feedback and training is timely and continual.
•    Co-responsible for the personal and technical development of less senior members of EY personnel, involved on other staff development activities as required.
•    Participate in and/or lead EY Focus Groups as required, working to identify sales and client/target opportunities in conjunction with EY member firm teams Teamwork
•    Effectively work in conjunction with other members of the team to pro-actively provide exceptional client service.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
•    Prior experience  (3+ years) in a relevant tax, accounting, legal or consulting role (preferably with a top-tier or mid-tier accounting firm or legal firm) 
•    Demonstrated experience in tax, with strong technical skills from undertaking tax compliance, analysing complex tax issues or investigating historical tax exposures. Previous experience in tax due diligence, deal structuring, and post-acquisition planning would be beneficial.
•    Ability to succinctly and clearly communicate complex tax concepts in simple terms to clients 
•    Strong project management skills 
•    Proven track record managing budgets and people 
•    Experience in New Zealand taxation would be an added benefit
