Job Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Estimator to join our team. This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for a range of civil construction projects, with an emphasis on three waters, utilities, roading, as well as hardscaping (paving, retaining walls, etc.) and softscaping (landscaping, planting, etc.). The Estimator will work closely with the project management team to provide competitive and accurate bids for various projects.
\n Key Responsibilities:Cost Estimation: Develop detailed cost estimates for tenders and project proposals, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs for civil works, hardscaping (e.g., paving, retaining walls), and softscaping (e.g., landscaping, turfing, planting).Tender Preparation: Lead the preparation and submission of tenders, ensuring bids are competitive, comprehensive, and meet all client requirements.Quantity Take-Offs: Perform quantity take-offs from engineering and landscape plans, ensuring accurate calculations for civil infrastructure, hardscaping, and softscaping elements.Supplier & Subcontractor Liaison: Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for all project scopes, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring alignment with project specifications.Risk & Contingency Analysis: Evaluate potential risks related to both civil and landscaping components of the project and provide recommendations for contingencies and allowances.Value Engineering: Collaborate with design and construction teams to identify cost-effective solutions for both hardscaping and softscaping while maintaining design integrity and sustainability.Post-Tender Support: Respond to queries during the tender process and provide detailed breakdowns of estimates, ensuring seamless communication with the project management team.Project Handover: Ensure a smooth transition from estimation to project execution by clearly communicating the breakdown of costs, assumptions, and scope to the project team.Market Research: Stay informed on material costs, industry trends, and innovations in both civil construction and landscaping to ensure accurate and competitive estimates. Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor's degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil construction estimation, particularly in three waters, utilities, roading, hardscaping, and softscaping.Strong knowledge of construction methods, landscaping processes, and current market rates.Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.
