Job DescriptionSeeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Engineer – Mining who will be responsible for delivering all drill and blast engineering functions for the underground mine to ensure physicals are achieved in line with the life of mine plans and will report to the Senior Engineer – Mining.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Oversee the stoping process including preparation to execution of stope designs, reconciliation of completed stopes, and communicating stoping activities to operations and contractorsCollaborate with contractors and suppliers ensuring their compliance to company standards and regulationsPrepare explosive reports and statutory requirements of drill and blast function-related requests of MGB, PNP, etc. in a timely mannerPerform timely preparation of drill, charge designs, and stope notes to ensure that blasted stocks are maintainedGuide junior and graduate Drill & Blast engineers through effective coaching and mentoringMonitor the consumables and coordinates requirements with the procurement team as neededAnalyze rock characteristics to predict fragmentation outcomesUtilize geological data to forecast fragmentation outcomesApply statistical methods to validate fragmentation predictionsCoordinate with geologists and engineers to optimize blast performanceUtilize software tools to model blast scenarios and modify blast parameters under supervision to improve efficiency as well as evaluate blast results against predefined benchmarksConduct safety assessments and identify potential hazards in blast plansQualificationsBehaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold WayAt least two (2) years' experience within the surface and underground mining environment or equivalentWith a valid Professional Driver's License and Radio Operator's License is an advantageKnowledgeable in Deswik CAD and UGDBProduction and development blasting schemesPossess knowledge in explosives managementAbility to use logic and intuition to arrive at decisions or solutions to problems to achieve the desired outcomeGood communication skills both oral and writtenDrive for continuous improvement and innovationAdditional InformationHighly attractive remuneration package inclusive of health and life insurance benefitsGreat opportunities for career advancement with an international mining companyFriendly roster with great onsite foods, accommodation, and transport from point of hire is provided for non-Didipio residentsProfessional development skills training opportunities providedOGC VALUES: CARE | RESPECT | INTEGRITY | PERFORMANCE | TEAMWORK OceanaGold is committed to providing equal employment opportunities.
