Work with the Library Director to coordinate the facilities, services, and resources of the library. Collaborate with the Library Director to maintain and follow a long-term strategic plan that reflects the mission, goals and objectives of the school. Responsible for the promotion of literacy and supporting the reading program for grades K-5. Obtain and maintain resources that support the elementary curriculum. Teach weekly library lessons to all elementary classes. Responsible for collection development and renewal for the Elementary Library. Maintains decor and an overall environment conducive to learning. Assist users of the Elementary Library with information and reading needs. Develop instructional resources to assist users in accessing information. Responsible for information literacy instruction including library skills and Internet access. Assist in training and supervising volunteer aides. Qualifications: B.A. degree or higher in Education. Experience as a classroom teacher. Certification as a Teacher Librarian or a degree at the Master's level (or the equivalent) in Librarianship or Library Science is preferred. Two years experience in a K-8 school library is preferred. Supervisory experience while not essential would be highly desirable Well developed knowledge of children's literature and the reading needs of K-5 students Highly developed interpersonal relations skills Commitment to the mission, objectives and goals of the library. Willingness to participate as a team member with library staff in providing a quality collection and services to support the information and reading needs of our users.
