Position Summary: This position is responsible for learning and understanding thermal power plant operations and maintenance processes. Grasp of basic process flows of the plant, and plant operations & maintenance such as, but not limited to, PMS, CMS, start-up, normal operation, shutdown.
Duties and Responsibilities: Learn the interdependencies of various support departments like SCM-WFM, SHE, RAM and ERM with O&M. Learn the basic process flows in thermal power plants (diesel and coal), and plant operations such as, but not limited to, start-up, normal operation, shutdown. Learn the rules, standards, procedures and guidelines in electric power industry laws such, but not limited to, EPIRA, ERC Resolution No.s 4, 10, and 21, Grid Code, and Cost and Revenue in relation to ERC. Learn the execution of daily plant operations and maintenance activities (i.e. PMS, CMS). Shadow activities of Operations and Maintenance in order to execute said duties under the supervision of qualified personnel. Perform activities related to preventive and corrective maintenance under the guidance of qualified personnel. Remain up-to-date with current and novel power plant design and operations by reading industry publications, manuals, and textbooks and attending professional development courses and events as time permits. Comply with the reportorial requirements and provide recommendations to leaders in the course of the cadetship program. Learn Safety, Reliability and Efficiency framework and governance structures. Maintain good communication with Maintenance, Operations and other teams to ensure smooth and safe workflow. Participate in Tool Box meetings as needed. Minimum Qualifications: Graduates of Electrical Engineering preferred. Scholarship grantee or graduate with honors is an advantage. Registered engineer. At least with experience as an officer of an academic club or a student organization. Competencies: Power Plant Operations and Maintenance. Safe Work Systems. Root Cause Analysis.
