Develops, implements, administers, and maintains database ecosystems and ensures the security and integrity of all Oracle, MS SQL and similar databases.
Ensures that all databases are accurately and regularly backed-up by checking and tracking the daily back-up files in the database servers and tapes.
Performs periodic restoration of backed-up database to ensure correctness of procedures,
data security and availability whenever a disaster strikes.
Submits weekly activities, internal control checklist and DB performance reports.
Reviews, recommends for approval, applies, and tests patches, changes and/or modifies relational database file definitions and schemas.
Develops, documents, and maintains procedures for patch loads, data backups. Restores, performance tuning and configurations.
Devises, develops, and implements database disaster recovery and archiving procedures.
Maintains updates on new technologies and recommends strategic direction in the application of these technologies for the hospital's business solution needs.
Assists the Unit Manager, Server Support in preparing the annual budget for database related functions and projects. -
Assists and works closely with Applications Development for new projects and applications that will require database installation, administration and maintenance.
Assists in installation, configuration, and maintenance of backup and restoration software (such as NetBackup), database management tools, tape drives and cartridges.
Liaises with web developers to enable on-line database access and resolve associated problems.
Collaborates with vendors and the Business Systems Development & Support in the design and development of databases to meet new user needs and respond to/anticipate technological innovations.
Submits the project accomplishment report for the review of the Unit Manager, Systems Support. Manages all aspects of databases in Makati Medical Center (MMC), including but not limited to:
Installation and configuration according to MMC standards and operation.
Monitoring performance and fine tuning.
Backup/restore procedures, disaster recovery procedures.
Patch and upgrade management.
Resolution of database-related issues with vendors or third-party; and
Ensures security, integrity and reliability.
Leads in the architecture, implementation and support of enterprise-wide data warehouse and data marts.
Performs other duties that may be assigned by the immediate superior from time to time.
