Qualifications:Valid Customs Broker License issued by the relevant government authority (2+ years experienceIn-depth knowledge of customs regulations, tariffs, and the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).Familiarity with trade agreements (e.g., NAFTA, USMCA), customs bonds, and duties.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Proficiency with customs software and systems such as ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) or ABI (Automated Broker Interface).Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines.Key Responsibilities:Customs Clearance:Prepare and process import/export documentation in compliance with customs regulations.Review shipments to ensure proper documentation and compliance with all laws and regulations.Submit declarations to customs authorities and resolve any issues related to clearance.Compliance & Regulations:Stay updated on customs regulations, tariff schedules, and changes in international trade laws.Advise clients on relevant customs procedures, tariffs, and duties applicable to their goods.Ensure proper classification of goods using the Harmonized Tariff System (HTS).Client Communication:Serve as a liaison between clients and customs authorities.Provide clients with timely updates on shipment status and regulatory changes.Help clients develop strategies to minimize customs duties and taxes.Coordination & Collaboration:Collaborate with freight forwarders, carriers, and other logistics partners to ensure timely delivery.Coordinate with internal and external teams to resolve any discrepancies in documentation or shipment details.Resolve customs-related issues such as detention, penalties, and re-exportation matters.Record Keeping & Reporting:Maintain accurate records of all customs entries, documentation, and correspondences.Prepare reports related to customs activities and assist with audits when required.Manage import/export data for statistical and compliance purposes.License Maintenance & Professional Development:Maintain an active Customs Broker License by complying with continuing education requirements.Attend industry seminars and stay informed on new regulations affecting international trade.
