We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Supervisor for Sanitation and Solid Waste to join our team in Nauru.
The Construction Supervisor for Sanitation and Solid Waste will play a key role in the Nauru Sustainable and Resilient Urban Development Project (SRUDP) to support the Government of Nauru in increasing sustainability, resilience, access, quality and safety urban services of water supply, sanitation and solid waste management across Nauru.
The project duration for this is 20 months and will require onsite assignment for at least 10 months in a year.
Key responsibilities: Oversee the construction of the sanitation and solid waste works package and shall be supported by one locally recruited and trained construction auditor. Supervise the water reservoir construction as part of the water supply package and the construction of new septage/organic waste treatment facility and composting facility. Establish and maintain a work quality management system for the organic waste facility and resource recovery facility. Provide Environment, Health and Safety oversight for the project duration. Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Qualifications to be successful in the role: Bachelor's degree in engineering or any related field. Minimum of 10 years' experience with at least 5 years directly supervising the construction of civil infrastructure including earthworks, pavement construction, concrete and steel structures and water retaining structures. Must be amenable to do onsite assignment for at least 10 months each year of the CSC contract. Extensive knowledge and experience managing and supervising construction contractors in small island developing states in the Pacific is desired. Strong communication skills and an in-depth understanding of quality management and quality record keeping.
