As a Computer Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices. You will provide technical support to end-users both remotely and on-site, ensuring that all IT systems operate effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Hardware Installation and Maintenance:
- Assemble and install computer hardware components such as CPUs, RAM modules, hard drives, and peripheral devices (printers, scanners, etc.).
- Configure hardware settings and ensure compatibility with software applications.
2. Software Installation and Configuration:
- Install and configure operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux) and software applications.
- Ensure software updates and patches are applied promptly to maintain system security and functionality.
3. Network Setup and Maintenance:
- Set up and maintain local area networks (LANs), including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and ensure network security measures are in place.
4. Technical Support:
- Provide technical assistance and support to end-users regarding computer systems, software, and hardware issues.
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems through troubleshooting steps, either remotely or on-site
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Certification such as NC II in Computer System Servicing or equivalent is desirable.
3. Proven experience as a Computer Technician or in a similar role, with hands-on experience in hardware and software installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
4. Strong technical skills in computer hardware components, operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and software applications.
5. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a systematic approach to diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
6. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to provide clear technical guidance and support to end-users.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with a customer-oriented approach to service delivery.
