Job Summary:
Responsible for strategic planning in the implementation of metallurgical processes and operational control parameters required for the attainment of production targets and optimum metal recoveries from the ore.
Major Job Functions: Plans and organizes the production activities of the department to ensure that the required metallurgical process and operational control parameters are implemented and optimum metals from the ore are recovered.Controls the use of all resources to ensure that costs are minimized and efficiencies are maintained.Identifies critical contingencies affecting the Metallurgy operation in next 3-5 years in terms of economic, environmental, social and physical conditions and forecasts future conditions.Formulates department key performance indicators and objectivesEvaluates the success of plans and takes corrective action when necessary.Develops organizational structure and allocates manpower line up to ensure the accomplishment of target goals and objectives.Designs and evaluates duties and responsibilities of direct reports, as well as the manner in which the duties should be carried out.Schedules and administers all major activities of the Sample Preparation, Process Control, Process Improvement, Research and Development, Process Automation and Instrumentation Sections.Conducts pep talk and learning sessions to influence direct reports and staff for human resource, finance, operational, health, environment and safety concerns.Leads the department staff in conducting continuous metallurgical test work, mineral sample analysis, efficient reagent dosing schemes, grinding efficiency and plant test.Ensures attainment of key performance indicators and objectives.Directs and conducts implementation of process control plans/strategies for a consistent and sustainable copper quality and maximum recoveries, as well as sustainable by-products like molybdenum, magnetite, pyrite and other valuable materials quality.Formulates and evaluates long term Mill Production Plan, Shipment Schedule and Process Improvement Projects.Finalizes and approves necessary policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure control measures and operational process are in place.Ensures that activities are being done in compliance to company policies, environmental standards, safety procedures, and IMS requirements.Performs task assigned from time to time with proper instruction guide and documentation. Graduate in Bs in Metallurgical Engineering
Must be Licensed/Registered
10 years of experience is required.
