Job Summary

As Chief Mate for Universal Harvester, Inc., you'll be the second-in-command on board, playing a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the vessel. You'll leverage your expertise in navigation, cargo handling, and safety procedures to lead the deck crew and contribute to the success of every voyage.
Navigation and Watchkeeping: Stand navigational watches, plot courses, ensure safe passage, and maintain accurate shipboard documentation. Cargo Operations: Oversee the safe and efficient loading, stowage, securing, and unloading of cargo, adhering to international regulations. Deck Crew Management: Lead, motivate, and train the deck crew in all aspects of their duties, including maintenance, safety drills, and emergency procedures. Safety and Security: Implement and enforce safety regulations, conduct safety audits, and ensure the vessel complies with all maritime security requirements. Compliance and Administration: Maintain accurate cargo records, prepare voyage plans, and liaise with port authorities and other relevant parties. Bridge Resource Management: Foster a team environment on the bridge, promoting clear communication and effective decision-making. Qualifications
Merchant Marine Officer's Certificate of Competency (Chief Mate) Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Chief Mate or senior deck officer on similar sized vessels. Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, etc.) Excellent navigation and ship handling skills, proficient in using navigational equipment. Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and train a diverse crew. Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions under pressure and in challenging situations. Superior teamwork and interpersonal skills to foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally. Compensation and Benefits
