KingsIsle Entertainment is seeking a 3D Character Artist who will add life and personality to characters and creatures in our classic MMO projects as well as interesting new projects that are in the works. The perfect candidate is experienced in hand painting textures and has a keen understanding of how to get the most out of low poly models. They will also need to take into consideration how the character will be used by rigging and animation down the line and construct the model appropriately.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 3D model and texture creation for stylized characters / creatures using 3DSMax, Adobe Photoshop and 3DCoat as well as other proprietary art tools.Work from provided concept art and from verbal / written art direction.Work with Animation to make sure Models are clean and that cuts are appropriately made for the movements required.Undergo review stages of the character and further polish process as requested.Learn to bring over and update legacy work from our older MMOs so they match a new style and properly work in the Unity pipeline.Keep organized and well labeled files and maintain / work within an established file structure.Other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive working knowledge of Photoshop, 3DSMax and 3DCoat.Experience in modeling and texturing low poly characters / creatures (2500 triangles or less for models) (1024 x 1024 or less for textures).Proficient with creating hand-painted textures.Strong UV layout skills.Experience with .DDS files and the Gamebryo game engine are a plus.Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask requirements and feedback gathering across disciplines, assess risk, define priorities, and resolve problems while meeting deadlines.Excellent critical and analytical skills, and a high attention to detail.Experience working with the Unity engine.Strong written and verbal communication. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrates characteristics to work respectfully and effectively with all levels of employees within the Art Team as well as with other departments to achieve mutual goals.The ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and positive under pressure and meet tight deadlines at all times.Must have excellent attention to detail, accuracy, use good artistic judgment, prioritization skills and be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.High degree of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
