The Opportunity
We are looking for several category specialists, junior category managers and experienced category managers. The category team is responsible for managing a specific product category and driving its growth and profitability. Strategic thinking, analytical skills, product knowledge, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Our ideal candidate will be experienced in one of the following industries. General Merchandise (includes hardware/electrical and automobile accessories/consumables, homeware, plastic ware, packaging) Computers, Appliances & Electronics (includes appliances, IT, mobile, computers, accessories, audio, video) Office, Furniture, and Business Supplies (includes office equipment, consumables, corporate gifts, furniture F&B, Hospitality, FMCG (consumer goods, hotel requirements, food and beverage preparation, supply and distribution) Key Tasks & Responsibilities Develop and execute a strategic plan for the assigned product category, in alignment with overall business objectives and customer needs. Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and areas of opportunity within the category. Manage the product assortment and pricing strategy for the category (1P and 3P), working closely with suppliers, sales teams, and other stakeholders to ensure a profitable and competitive product offering. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, operations, and IT, to develop and implement category-specific initiatives, such as promotions, campaigns, and merchandising. Analyze sales data and other performance metrics to measure category performance, identify areas of improvement, and optimize pricing, promotions, and inventory levels. Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and conditions, and resolving any issues that may arise. Identify new suppliers and product opportunities within the category, using various channels such as trade shows, online directories, and industry publications. Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape, and provide regular updates to senior management and other stakeholders on category performance and market developments. Develop and maintain category-specific content, including product descriptions, images, and specifications, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Work with IT and other stakeholders to ensure that the category is properly represented on the company's B2B ecommerce platform, including navigation, search, and filtering capabilities.
