Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and Serve Beverages:
Brew and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and other specialty beverages.
Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee-making equipment.
Customize drinks according to customer preferences (e.g., adding syrups, milk alternatives).
Customer Service:
Greet customers warmly and take their orders.
Provide information about the menu and recommend drinks.
Ensure that customers have an enjoyable experience and address any concerns or issues promptly.
Maintain Cleanliness:
Clean coffee equipment, counters, and workstations regularly.
Ensure that the café is tidy and well-organized throughout the day.
Dispose of waste properly and ensure sanitation standards are followed.
Inventory Management:
Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies.
Notify management when supplies are running low.
Keep the storage area organized and assist in receiving deliveries.
Cash Handling:
Handle cash and process payments accurately.
Operate the cash register or point of sale (POS) system.
Ensure that the correct change is given and manage any transactions efficiently.
Teamwork:
Collaborate with other baristas and staff to ensure smooth service during busy times.
Support team members as needed and maintain a positive work environment.
Customer Interaction:
Build rapport with regular customers and create a welcoming environment.
Answer customer questions about drink ingredients, allergens, and the menu.
Ensure quick service during peak times while maintaining quality.
Follow Health and Safety Regulations:
Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards.
Ensure food and drink items are prepared according to the café's policies and standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: Previous barista or customer service experience is preferred but not always required.
Skills: Strong communication, multitasking, and customer service skills. Ability to operate coffee-making equipment.
Attention to Detail: Ability to prepare drinks with accuracy, ensuring the right temperature, strength, and presentation.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Availability: Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
