What you'll do: The primary responsibility of the Applications Engineer is to support efforts to profitably grow product sales as a member of the Engineering Services team. Primary areas of focus will be field technical assistance (both pre and post-sale) with a focus on B-Line's structural products such as cable tray, bolted framing, and seismic products. Field technical assistance and sales support responsibilities will include technical training, product demonstrations, custom project specification, project take-offs, drawing development, bid preparation, proposal submittals, documentation development, documentation management, application design modeling (structural and seismic), structural design/analysis and field problem resolution.
Acts as support for B-Line's MEPF structural support products, particularly seismic bracing, leveraging technical and project management skills to coordinate all activities during the project life cycle.Work with internal and external engineering resources as necessary to sign off on project plans or new product applications.Perform project design tasks, including but not limited to; material and engineering services take-off, quotation, structural/mechanical/seismic/wind/sea transportation calculations, finite element analysis, development of scope documents, drawing layouts, submittal creation, release schedules, post order documentation creation, new product development, value engineering, etc.Works with customer & outside sales to develop cost-effective solutions to meet the customer and project needs.Reports potential/actual problems requiring attention and provides alternative solutions when identified for project completion.Customer and Site visits as necessary to perform installation inspections, problem resolution, etc.Acts as the primary representative in technical assistance and project status.Other duties as necessary. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.Three (3+) years of experience in structural design.Experience in MEPF system design/layout and design for non-structural component supports including seismic bracing.Experience in Oil & Gas, Power, Mining, heavy industrial projects structural design.Experience in working with EPC company.Proficiency in RISA 3D, STAAD and other design software.Proficiency in Autocad and other 2D drawing software.Familiar with different international codes and standards (NEC, IEC, NEMA, ASME, CSA, NFPA, IBC, CBC, UL, FM, plus others).Experience in Mechanical & Electrical equipment support design.Knowledge of manufacturing documentation requirements for Oil & Gas, Power, Mining, heavy industrial projects:- submittal drawings- production drawings- test reports & certificationsProficiency in Solidworks / Autodesk Inventor software a plus.Experience of design software i.e. PDMS / SP3D/ REVIT / Finite Element Analysis a plus.Experience in new product development (NPD)/ steel design from a manufacturing company utilizing high steel content a plus.Team-player, Fast Learner, Critical Thinker and Problem-Solver.
