Establishes financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information, and managing accounting staff.
- Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
- Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
- Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; and implementing change.
- Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
- Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data; and preparing special reports.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
- Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax return.
- Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Maintains accounting controls by establishing a chart of accounts and defining accounting policies and procedures.
- Presents recommendations to management on short
- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
- Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls.
- Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
- Ensures compliance with local, state and government requirements.
Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accounting regulations, and recommending new procedures.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- Minimum 5-10 years' experience in accounting/finance
- At least 3-5 years in managerial position
- Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
- Experience with financial reporting requirements
- Experience in construction industry is preferred
