Accounting Assistant

The assistant accountant will be involved in a **mix of financial accounting and management accounting duties**.
You will ensure the accurate and timely **recording of general ledger (GL) data, accounts payable (AP) processing and month end reporting.
** You will have the opportunity to participate in a number of exciting projects within a small and supportive team environment, led by finance leaders who are passionate about training and mentoring.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- **Accounts payable and expense processing**:

- Bank reconciliations
- End of month (EOM) journals and reporting
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Intercompany reconciliations
- Accruals/prepayments
- Trust accounting tasks
- Variance analysis
- Ad hoc projects

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Degree qualified - accounting or business degree
- **With aspirations to complete** or have started your **CA or CPA**:

- Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant; **basic accounting standard knowledge**:

- Self-motivated and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Great attention to detail and the ability to be proactive
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Prior experience with **Xero**:

- **Intermediate to advanced Excel skills**:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- **Previous experience from insurance industry** highly regarded
